Michl and Josef liked to be creative and inventive in their cooking. But most importantly, it had to be quick so they could get back to exploring their surroundings as soon as possible. What they craved most was their special sandwich.

Michl and Josef liked to be creative and inventive in their cooking. But most importantly, it had to be quick so they could get back to exploring their surroundings as soon as possible. What they craved most was their special sandwich.

INGREDIENTS

4        slices of white bread
2        eggs
100g  mountain cheese, grated
100g  bacon
tomato chutney
salt and pepper

for the vegetarian option you need a bit of butter for frying the eggs

You can buy these products at our market in the basement

DIRECTIONS

Preparation

  • pan, cutting board, knife

 

Prepare Sandwich

  • fry the bread slices in the dry pan over high heat until crispy on both sides
  • you will need 2 slices of bread for each sandwich – generously spread the tomato chutney on one slice of each sandwich
  • put the other two slices of bread aside, they will be used as tops in the end

 

Fry Bacon (for the vegetarian option of the sandwich, just skip this part)

  • cut the bacon into fine strips
  • add the water to the pan and bring to a light simmer
  • put the bacon in the simmering water and toss regularly
  • once the water has evaporated, fry the bacon until crispy
  • when crispy, remove the bacon from the pan while making sure that the excess fat remains in the pan
  • put the bacon on the bread with the chutney

 

Prepare Eggs with Cheese

  • put the pan with the fat on medium heat (for the vegetarian option, heat a piece of butter in the pan)
  • whisk the eggs in a bowl and pour them into the pan
  • when the eggs are well set, remove from the heat and add the cheese and let it melt
  • if necessary, put it back on the stove till the cheese melts
  • season with pepper (for the vegetarian version add a little salt if necessary)
  • divide the egg omelet in the middle and place it folded on the sandwich
  • put other the bread slices on top and enjoy
